Walk No. 1 Sat 1st April - Tibradden Wood, Cruagh. Glendoo, Cloghnagun, Prince Williams Seat. Return by Wicklow Way and Dublin Mountains Way - (Ref for booking - Walk No. 1 Sat 1st April)

Description: A strenuous walk from Tibradden Wood/Pine Forest car park (on R116), Cruagh Forest, up the board walk/mountain access route to Cruagh Mountain, on to Glendoo Mountain and then Cloghnagun before arriving at Prince William's Seat. Enjoy your packed lunch here. We then descend into Glencullen forest joining the Wicklow Way back to Tibradden Mountain and then the Dublin Mountains Way back to Tibradden car park.

This walk is only recommended for walkers with a reasonable level of experience. About half of the walk will be on durable surfaces; the rest will traverse boggy mountains which contain bog holes. Unless you are prepared for these conditions this walk is not for you.

Date: Saturday 1st April

Meeting point: Tibraddnh car park at 10 o'clock sharp.

Length: approx. 17 km.

Climb: 530m

Duration: approx. five and a half hours 

Degree of difficulty: Challenging & Strenuous

Walk No 2 Sat 8th April - Dublin Mountains Way - Western end (public transport option) (Ref for booking - Walk No 2 Sat 8th Apr)

Description: A lovely walk along the western section of the Dublin Mountains Way from Sean walsh Park to Bohernabreena visiting the reservoir en route and then up past Finn McCool's stone close to the source of the Dodder.

Date: Saturday 8th April at 10.00am

Length: approx. 23 km

Duration: 5 hours

Meeting point: Sean Walsh park

Degree of difficulty: Strenuous

'Dublin Mountains Partnership Easter Egg Hunt'...Cruagh Wood ...Sunday 16th April 12:00pm 

 

 

 

You'd be hopping mad to miss the Dublin Mountains Partnership free Easter Egg Hunt in Cruagh Wood with the Volunteer Rangers!!!

 

 

The Egg Hunt will cover 1km and is ideal for young children and toddlers.  Please wrap up warm and wear boots or wellies as the ground will be muddy & wet in places.  We're sure the kids will love this!!! 

 

The event will last approximately 1 hour and be followed by the option to BYOP (Bring Your Own Picnic).

 

This is a free non-commercial event and parents are welcome to donate additional Easter eggs if they so wish.

 

Don't forget your bunny ears!!!

Walk No 3 Monday 17th April - Kilbride 4Cs Hike - (ref for booking - Walk No 3 Mon 17th Apr) 

Description: A strenuous hike in the Kilbride area. The hike takes a circuit around the Kilbride military firing range via Seahan, Corrig, Seefingan and Seefin Mountains (the 4Cs!) and enter the 3,000BC passage grave there, a miniature version of Newgrange. We return by road for a short distance to the entrance to Kilbride Military Camp. Most of this hike is on open-top mountains and on very boggy ground.

This hike is only recommended for experienced walkers. Unless you have at least walked on our moderate hikes or are otherwise fit and are prepared for open-top mountain walking, this walk is NOT for you.

 

Date/Time: Monday 17th April at 11 am (11:00) sharp. 

Length: 12km. 

Climb: 700m 

Duration: 5 hrs. 

SORRY - NO DOGS ALLOWED ON THIS WALK 

Meeting point: Entrance to Kilbride Military Camp. From the Old Mill pub in Oldbawn, Tallaght, take the R114 towards Brittas. Pass the entrance to Bohernabreena Water Works and, further on, Ballinascorney Golf Club. At a junction 4.5km from the Old Mill, turn left onto a local road. There is a Celtic Stone Cross at the junction. (If you go as far as the Kilsarran Quarry works, you have passed the junction. Go back and take the next right). Continue until you see Kilbride Military Camp. Wait at the Main Gate, be there a minimum of 15 minutes before start of walk.

Degree of difficulty: Strenuous & long with some boggy ground.

Bring: Good walking boots (not runners), raingear, warm clothes, torch, hot drink, water and food.

Description: This loop is an enjoyable walk along part of the Dodder before looping around the upper reservoir and back to the car park.

Date: Saturday 22nd April

Meeting point: Bohernabreena car park at 12 o'clock sharp (12 noon).

Length: 8.5km.

Climb: 15m

Duration: one and half hours

Degree of difficulty: easy

Walk No 5 - Sunday 23rd April - Hike Dublin Mountains Way - Eastern end (public transport option DART) (Ref for booking - Walk No 5 - Sun 23rd Apr) 

 

Description: A lovely hike along the eastern section of the Dublin Mountains Way from Shankill to Barnaslingan / Scalp visiting Carrickgollogan and the Lead Mines tower en route.

 

Date: Sunday 23rd April 

 

Length: 12 to 14 km 

 

Duration: 3.5 - 4 hours

 

Meeting point: Brady's car park at 11:00 (11 am)

 

Returning to Brady's.

Please do not park in Brady's car park as this is for patrons of the pub only. Or take the DART and walk the short distance from the Station to Brady's

Description:  A walk through Cruagh wood with great views over the mountains. The walk loops and descends back to Cruagh to car park. Information will be given along the way on different DMPW walks and equipment that you should bring to enjoy the walks.
