Description: Pleasant walk through Bohernabreena Water Works past the two reservoirs. The walk then continues through Castlekelly, raising past Finn McCool's Stone and up through beautiful open mountains on the old bog road to near the source of the Dodder. Enjoy beautiful sights of Kippure, Seefingan and Corrig mountains and back towards Glenasmole and Dublin City. All the walk takes place on durable surfaces.

Date: Saturday 13th January at 10:00.

Distance: 16km approximately

Duration: 4.5 hrs.

Degree of difficulty: Moderate. 

Bring:  Wellies/ walking boots, raingear, warm clothes, hot drink and a snack.

Meeting point:  Bohernabreena Car-park on Ballinascorney Road (R114) at 10:00.

Sunday 21 January ‘Rock to the Top’-Drop a Stone in January Walk

Description: ​Inspired by the story of Oisín i dTír na n-Óg, who single-handed threw a boulder up the valley at Glenasmole, you are invited to join the challenge of recreating this mythic feat by working together to carry a granite boulder (in pieces) from Tallaght, to make a cairn at the foot of Kippure. Join in now to help get the boulder to the top by mid-summer! 

Connecting city with mountains, and people with each other, the project is about walking and talking. Stories of the walks will be retold in sound and pictures at the end of the project, which will continue until all of the boulder has been brought to the top. 

Date: Sunday 21 January

Length: 22km (or 15km)

Duration: 6.5 hours

Degree of difficulty: Moderate 22km hike on paths & road, mostly via Dublin Mountain Way, returning to Rua Red.

Meeting point | Rua Red - South Dublin Arts Centre, Tallaght (beside Tallaght Luas) at 10:30am.

Meeting point for shorter walk (15km): Bohernabreena Reservoir Car Park. 11:30am.

Meet to collect Rock10:30. Return | by 17:00

Bring | Walking boots/shoes. Warm/waterproof clothes. Food, water, and hot drink.  Free Parking at Civic Theatre, Tallaght. Participation at your own risk.

Description: A nature and local history themed stroll around Massey Estate Forest suitable for all the family.

Date: Saturday 27th January.

Duration: 2 to 2.5 hrs.

Degree of difficulty: Easy. 

Bring:  Wellies/ walking boots, raingear, warm clothes.
