Saturday 1st December 2018, Shankill to the Scalp Hike - Public Transport Friendly 

(Ref for booking – The Scalp Hike)

 

Description: A lovely hike along the eastern section of the Dublin Mountain’s Way from Shankill to the Scalp, returning to Shankill, visiting Carrickgollogan summit and the Lead Mine’s chimney enroute.  This walk is public transport friendly, Shankill village is served by both Dublin Bus and DART services.

Date: Saturday 1st December at 11:00.

Duration: 3.5 hrs.

Distance: approximately 12km

Degree of difficulty: Moderate. 

Bring:  Wellies/ walking boots, raingear, warm clothes, hot drink and a snack.

Meeting point:  Brady’s of Shankill Car-park at 11:00.

Please do not park in Brady’s car-park as this is for patrons of the pub only.

Sunday 2nd December 2018, Orienteering for Beginners - Carrickgollogan

 (Ref for booking – Orienteering for beginners)  

Description: A free introduction to orienteering set in Coillte’s Carrickgollogan forest making use of its permanent orienteering courses. Suitable for adults and children of 10 years of age and upwards.

Date: Sunday 2nd December at 11:00.

Duration: 3 hours.

Distance: 2-4 km approximately

Degree of difficulty: moderate. 

Bring:  Walking boots, raingear, warm clothes, hot drink and a snack. 

Meeting point:  Carrickgollogan car-park at 11:00.

 Saturday 8th December - Fairy Castle Loop  - dog friendly hike

 (Reference for booking –Fairy Castle  Loop - dog friendly hike)

 

Description:  Starting from Ticknock Car Park and following the Fairy Castle Loop walking trail. Depending on the weather there will be the panoramic views over the city, to the Irish sea and south to the Wicklow Mountains.  While this hike is dog friendly you don’t need a dog to join.  Dogs will be required to be on leashes for the full duration of the walk. People bringing dogs on the hike are reminded to carry bags to pick up any doggy doo and bring back home for disposal.

 

Date: Saturday 8th December at 10:00

Length: 5.5 km

Elevation Gain: 210m

Duration: 2 hours depending on the weather

Meeting point:  Ticknock Car Park start at 10:00 sharp,

Degree of difficulty: Moderate  

 

Note – dogs on leads are welcome on this hike, anyone who does not feel comfortable around dogs might be better choosing one of the other DMP walks this month which don’t allow dogs.

Bring: Good walking boots, raingear, warm clothes, hot drink, water & food (snacks) for you and Fido.

Sunday 16th December, Sunrise Walk Tibradden – Two Rock - Tibradden


 This event is fully booked (26.11.18)

Description: Join the DMP Volunteer Rangers for a walk to see the ‘Winter Sunrise’ from Two Rock Mountain. The hike will begin in the dark so a head torch is essential. Please bring plenty of warm clothing and breakfast. Sun is up at 08:36.

Length: 11km
Height gain: 290m
Duration: 3.5-4 hours
Degree of difficulty: Moderate.

 Sunday 23rd December, Hike: Glencullen -Three Rock-Two Rock and return

(Ref for booking - Glencullen to Two Rock Hike)

Description: A moderate hike starting from the Glencullen Adventure Park (The GAP) car park, heading along the Dublin Mountains Way to Ballyedmonduff and onto Three Rock.  The walk will then head along the Wicklow Way and continue onto Two Rock Mountain and return through the GAP again. There will be a pit stop along the way.  Weather permitting there will be fine views of Dublin city, the Irish Sea, Wales and the Wicklow, Mourne and Cooley Mountains.  Please bring walking poles if you have them. Information will be provided on Dublin Mountains Partnership walks and equipment that you should bring to enjoy the walks.

Date: Sunday 23rd December at 10:30.

Length: 10.5 Km.

Duration: 3.5 hrs.

Meeting point: The GAP overflow car park at 10:30.

Degree of difficulty: Moderate.

Bring: Good walking boots, raingear, warm clothes, hot drink, water and food.

 Sunday 30th December Bohernabreena Upper Reservoir Loop 

 (Reference for booking Bohernabreena Loop Walk)

Description: This is a lovely walk suitable for all the family along part of the Dodder river, looping around the upper reservoir and returning to the car park. The DMP Volunteer Rangers leading this gently paced walk will share their knowledge of the history of the reservoir, the mythology associated with the Glenasmole Valley and the many features of interest along the route.

 Tuesday 1st January 2019, New Year’s Day Hike  - Shankill to the Scalp - Public Transport Friendly 

 

(Ref for booking – New Year’s Day Hike)

Description: get your New Year off to a great start by joining DMP Volunteer Rangers on this free guided hike along the eastern section of the Dublin Mountains Way.  Starting from Brady’s Pub in Shankill the route takes in Carrickgollogan summit, The Scalp and the Lead Mine’s chimney before returning to Shankill.  This walk is public transport friendly, Shankill village is served by both Dublin Bus and DART services, do check the timetables for New Year’s Day services.

Date: Tuesday 1st January 2019  at 11:00.

Duration: 3.5 hrs.

Distance: approximately 12km

Degree of difficulty: Moderate.
