Walk No. 1 Sat. 11th November - Photography Walk from Barnaslingan Wood car park (ref for booking – Photo Walk No. 1 Sat 11th Nov)

"LANDSCAPES"

Description: A looped guided photography walk for beginners, amateurs & professionals. Starting at Barnaslingan car park and then heading for the Scalp viewing area for the great views of the surrounding area. This is an opportunity to learn basic techniques and camera settings on your digital camera with other photography enthusiasts.

Date: Saturday 11th November.

Length: 2 - 4Km

Duration: 4 hrs (depending on the weather)

Meeting point: Barnaslingan Car Park at 10:30.

Degree of difficulty: Easy

Bring: Good walking boots, raingear, warm clothes, hot drink, water, food and your camera with fully charged batteries. Tripod if you have one but not essential.

ROCK TO THE TOP event on Sunday 12th November

Inspired by the story of Oisín i dTír na n-Óg, who single-handed threw a boulder up the valley at Glenasmole, Ciarán Taylor’s  Rock to the Top invites the people of South Dublin to take up the challenge of recreating this mythic feat by working together to carry a granite boulder (in pieces) from Tallaght,  to make a cairn at the foot of Kippure

Join in to carry pieces of the Tallaght boulder to the mountain! (If you were there on 22 October, come to finish the job started that day. If not come anyway, as we still need lots of help!)

Description: Bohernabreena Reservoir car park, to the Top and back, a moderate walk on paths and road with picnic half way.

Meeting point: Bohernabreena Reservoir car park at 12 noon.

Length: 11km

Duration: 4.5 to 5 hours

Bring:  Walking shoes/boots. Food and water. Clothes for the weather (It's windy on the top!)

Walk No 2 - Sunday 19th November - Hike Dublin Mountains Way - Eastern end

(public transport option DART) (Ref for booking - Walk No 2 - Sun 19th Nov)  

 

Description: A lovely looped hike along the eastern section of the Dublin Mountains Way from Shankill to Barnaslingan / Scalp visiting Carrickgollogan and the Lead Mines tower en route. 

Date: Sunday 19th November 

Length: 12 to 14 km  

Duration: 3.5 - 4 hours 

Degree of difficulty: Moderate  

Bring: good walking boots, raingear, warm clothes, lunch, water, snacks. 

Meeting point: Brady's car park at 11:00 (11 am).  Please do not park in Brady's car park as this is for patrons of the pub only. 

Public Transport: Shankill DART is a short distance from Brady's Pub car park on the main street in Shankill.

Walk No 3 Sun 26th November – New Hike   - Public Transport Friendly Hike - Stepaside-Barnacullia-Three Rock-Glencullen & Back

(Ref for booking - Walk No 3 - Sun 26th Nov) - places limited so book early.

 

Description: A moderate walk from Stepaside Village, through the Right of Way in Fernhill Gardens to Barnacullia and on to the ‘back’ entrance of Ticknock. We will visit the tomb at Ballyedmonduff, and continue to The GAP Café in Glencullen, before returning via the same route.

Date: Sunday 26th November  

Length: 14 km  

Duration: 4½ to 5 hours.  

Degree of difficulty: Moderate: some tracks are mucky and steep.  

Meeting Point/Time: Outside the (closed) Garda Station in Stepaside Village at 10:30 (or when 44 bus arrives in Stepaside, if later).     

Public Transport:  Stepaside is served by Dublin Bus 44 from Whitehall travelling through Drumcondra-City Centre-Ranelagh-Milltown-Dundrum Luas-and Sandyford.   

Bring: Good walking boots, raingear, warm clothes, hot drink, water & food.
