Sunday 3rd February, Barnaslingan & Carrickgollogan Family Friendly Loop Walk

Pre-booking required via Eventbrite  

Description: This guided walk will take in the Scalp view-point, the Lead Mines Chimney and Carrickgollogan summit.  It is a moderate walk on forest roads and trails, a small section of County road and a gravel track leading to Carrickgollogan summit.  This is not a buggy friendly walk, it is suitable for children of 7 years and older.

Date: Sunday 3rd  February at 11:00.

Duration: 2 hours.

Degree of difficulty: Moderate. 

Bring:  walking boots, raingear, warm clothes, water and a snack.

Meeting point:  Barnaslingan car-park at 11:00.

Saturday 9th February 2019, Fairy Castle Loop

Pre-booking required via EventBrite

Description: This is a moderate looped walk (due to elevation gain and terrain) taking in the wonderful views over Dublin from Three Rock Mountain and Fairy Castle, the route traversing sections of the Dublin Mountains Way and Wicklow Way, before returning via the old rifle range to the car park.  

Date: Saturday 9th February at 10:00

Distance: 5.5km approximately

Duration: 2 hrs.

Elevation Gain: 210m

Degree of difficulty: Moderate. 

Bring:  Walking boots, raingear, warm clothes, hot drink and a snack.

Meeting point:  Ticknock upper car-park beside the map board at 10:00

Sunday February 10th, Kilmashogue - Fairy Castle - Ticknock Loop 

As of 07.02.19 this walk is fully booked.

Description: A moderate looped walk from Kilmashogue car-park via the Wicklow Way (WW) to where it joins the Dublin Mountains Way (DMW), from there the route follows the DMW to Fairy Castle (537m). Note this 1st 4.5km is a steady up-hill climb and requires a moderate level of fitness. From Fairy Castle the route continues on the DMW until the masts where it loops back downhill towards Kilmashogue where it re-joins the Wicklow Way. On a clear day the views are spectacular.

Length: 9.5 Km (approximately)

Duration: 3.5 hrs

Saturday 16th February – Hell Fire Club & Massy’s Estate Loop Walk – a dog friendly walk

As of 27th January this walk is fully booked.  Booking for this walk was via Eventbrite if spaces become available through cancellations booking will open again on Eventbrite.

Description:  Starting from Hell Fire Club Forest car park this walk will follow the Forest Loop in Hell Fire Club and the Nature Loop in Massy’s Estate.  Depending on the weather there will be the panoramic views over the city, to the Irish sea and south to the Wicklow Mountains.  While this hike is dog friendly you don’t need a dog to join. People bringing dogs on the hike are reminded to carry bags to pick up any doggy doo and bring back home for disposal.  Dogs will be required to be on leashes for the full duration of the walk.

Length: 7 km

Duration: 2 to 2.5 hours depending on the weather

Meeting point:  Hell Fire Club Car Park start at 11:00 sharp, please arrive 15 minutes before start time.

 Sunday 17th February -  Tibradden – Two Rock - Tibradden

As of 27th January this walk is fully booked, a waiting list is in place, no more bookings can be taken.

Description: Join the DMP Volunteer Rangers for a lovely hike from Tibradden forest via the Dublin Mountains Way to Fairy Castle and then onwards to Two Rock.

Height gain: 290m
Duration: 3.5-4 hours

S aturday 23rd February, Cruagh Loop Walk
Pre-booking required via Eventbrite
Description: This free DMP Volunteer Ranger led guided walk will start from Tibradden car-park and travel along the Dublin Mountains Way and a Mountain Access Path onto Cruagh Mountain and then return to Tibradden.  The first 3km of the walk are a steady uphill climb but the views from the top over Dublin and the Irish Sea are worth it.

Distance: 6.3km approximately

Elevation Gain: 223m approximately
Meeting point: Tibradden Car Park start at 10:00 sharp
