Sunday 19th October: DMP Hike Tibradden to Three Rock

Description: The DMP Volunteer Rangers will guide this hike from Tibradden Wood to Fairy Castle, Three Rock and Kilmashogue along the Dublin & Wicklow Ways. This guided 13.5km hike will start at the far end of the car park of Tibradden Forest, and initially take walkers upwards through the forest, onto the open mountain side, and to the first stop, Tibradden Cairn (519m). From there it will follow the Dublin Mountain Way trail, and climb to Fairy Castle (536m), after which it will descend to Three Rock Mountain. The route will further descend into Ticknock Forest before turning left towards Kilmashogue. After about 1.5km the route will take walkers left onto the Wicklow Way, and eventually rejoining the Dublin Mountain Way trail where walkers will retrace their route back over Tibradden Mountain and then returning to Tibradden car park.
Important: All participants must have sturdy, waterproof footwear and a rain jacket. You may not be allowed to join the walk without these items. For the full list of what to bring, see below.
Terrain: Forest track, rock and stony mountain trails, and large rock stepping stones.
Date: Sunday, 19th October at 10:00.
Duration: 4 – 4.5 hours, approximately.
Distance: 13.5 km approximately, 400m of climb.
Degree of difficulty: Moderate to strenuous in climbs.
Bring: Sturdy waterproof footwear, rain gear, warm layers, water, snacks and lunch.
Meeting point: Tibradden Forest Carpark at 09:45.
Public Transport: There is no direct public transport to Tibradden Forest on Sundays. However, the area is served by the TFI Local Link Bus SD4 on Saturdays.
No Dogs allowed on this hike.
Please inform us privately of any health issues on the day and ensure you bring any necessary medication with you.
In the event of an orange or red weather warning, this event will be cancelled. Other weather warnings will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Saturday, 8th November: Sharing Nature with Children – a workshop for Parents and Guardians delivered by NPWS - Knocksink Wood
A workshop to help parents and guardians connect the children in their care with nature, biodiversity and the natural world. This workshop is for parents and guardians only, it is not for children.

Would you like to connect your children with the natural world but don’t know where to start? Forgotten the nature lessons of your schooldays? Want to know more about Ireland’s wildlife and landscape to pass on to the next generation? Join us and learn at NPWS’s Knocksink Wood this event was to be part of the Dublin Mountains Festival ~ Féile na Sléibhte but was postponed due to Storm Amy impacts.
This half-day workshop, led by NPWS Knocksink Education Guides, aims to help parents and guardians connect the children in their care with nature, biodiversity and the natural world. The workshop comprises classroom sessions, guided discussion and of course plenty of time in the woods! It all takes place in the beautiful autumnal surroundings of Knocksink Wood, as well as using the recently reopened Education Centre on site.
The workshop is free, but places are limited, and booking is essential. Please note that this event is for parents and guardians of children rather than the children themselves - we’ll do events for kids another day!

Venue: Knocksink Wood Education Centre, Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow, A98N295.
Public Transport: Enniskerry Village is served by buses from the City Centre (Route 44) and Bray (Route L15), it is a 15–20-minute walk from the village to Knocksink Wood Education Centre. See link to the TFI Journey Planner for more information.
Parking: there is a small carpark at Knocksink Wood, please carpool where possible.
Toilets: located in the education centre
Bring: raingear, outdoor footwear, water, notebook and pencil.
