April Events with the DMP Volunteer Rangers

Saturday April 11th. An Irish Sign Language Tour of Rathmichael Wood, Co. Dublin to explore the site’s archaeology and cultural significance

This is a Dublin Mountains Community Archaeology Project event.


Date:    11th April 2026 at 10:30 at Rathmichael Wood, with a free bus transfer from Shankill DART Station carpark at 10:05.
ISL Tour Duration:  One Hour
Tour Distance: less than 1km walk with 14m of elevation gain (there are two small hills/inclines)
Tour Route surfaces: gravel trail and grass

Getting there: there will be a free bus transfer from Shankill DART Station at 10:05 to Rathmichael Wood. Alternatively, meet at Rathmichael Wood carpark, please note there is a very limited carparking available.

Event Description: an Irish Sign Language interpreted tour of the Rathmichael hillfort led by Archaeologist Wayne Malone from ABH Ltd. This event is aimed at ISL users, their families and the wider Deaf community. The prominent prehistoric enclosure at Rathmichael serves as a significant focal point within the Dublin Mountains landscape. Rathmichael boasts a wealth of sites and monuments. Wayne will discuss the archaeological significance of Rathmichael and will share results of an archaeological survey that took place in 2025. This event will be supported by the Dublin Mountains Partnership Volunteer Rangers.

Event Cancellation: this event will not go ahead if a Met Eireann Orange or Red warning is in place for Co. Dublin.
