Free Guided Hikes and Walks November

Sunday 10th November – Dog Friendly Walk in Cruagh Forest 

(Ref for booking – Dog Friendly Walk)

 

Description: A looped, guided, dog friendly walk for beginners and dog lovers. The walk starts from Cruagh car-park and follows forest roads and then boardwalk up to summit of Cruagh where, weather permitting, there will be panoramic views over Dublin City and Bay, then return to the car park.  

While this walk is dog friendly you don’t need a dog to join.  Dogs will be required to be on leashes for the full duration of the walk. People bringing dogs on the walk are reminded to carry bags to pick up any doggy doo and bring back home for disposal. For anyone who does not feel comfortable around dogs they might be better choosing one of the other DMP walks this month which don’t allow dogs.  

Date: Sunday 10th November at 10:00 

Length: 4 to 5 km 

Duration: 2 to 3 hours depending on the weather 

Meeting point:  Cruagh Car Park at 09:45 

Degree of difficulty: Easy  

Bring: Good walking boots, raingear, warm clothes, hot drink, water & food (snacks) for you and Fido.

Sunday 24th  - Shankill to the Scalp & return - a public transport friendly hike. 

Pre-booking required, reference for booking Eastern DMW Hike

Description: A lovely guided hike along the eastern section of the Dublin Mountain’s Way from Shankill to the Scalp and returning to Shankill. The route will travel via Rathmichael wood, Carrickgollogan summit, the Lead Mine’s chimney and Barnaslingan before returning to Shankill.

Date: Sunday 24th November at 11:00.

Duration: 3.5 hrs.

Distance: 12km approximately

Degree of difficulty: Moderate.

Bring: good walking boots, raingear, warm clothes, lunch, water, snacks.

Meeting point: Brady’s of Shankill at 10:50.

Please do not park in Brady’s car-park as this is for patrons of the pub only.

Public Transport: DART and Dublin Bus (Routes 45a, 84, 84A, 145)

Kilmashogue - Fairy Castle - Ticknock Loop
Pre-booking required, reference for booking Kilmashogue – Ticknock Loop Walk


Description: A moderate looped walk from Kilmashogue car-park via the Wicklow Way (WW) to where it joins the Dublin Mountains Way (DMW), from there the route follows the DMW to Fairy Castle (537m). Note the 1st 4km is a steady up-hill climb and requires a moderate level of fitness. From Fairy Castle the route continues on the DMW until the masts where it loops back downhill towards Kilmashogue and re-joins the Wicklow Way.

Date: Saturday 30th November at 10:00
Length: 9.5 km (approximately)
Duration: 3.5 hours
Meeting point: Kilmashogue car park at 09:45.
