Sunday 12th January: Hike Kilmashogue - Fairy Castle - Ticknock Loop

Description: A moderate looped hike from Kilmashogue car-park via the Wicklow Way to where it joins the Dublin Mountains Way (DMW), from there the route follows the DMW to Fairy Castle (537m). Note the 1st 4km is a steady up-hill climb and requires a moderate level of fitness. From Fairy Castle the route continues on the DMW until the masts where it loops back downhill towards Kilmashogue and re-joins the Wicklow Way.

Duration: 3.5 hours
Meeting point: Kilmashogue car park at 09:45.
Directions
Degree of difficulty: Moderate.
Bring: Good walking boots, raingear, warm clothes, water and a snack.

Saturday 18th January Guided Walk of Slievethoul and Lugg Forests

 

Pre-booking required via Eventbrite

Description:  A Dublin Mountains Partnership Volunteer Rangers guided walk of Coillte’s Slievethoul and Lugg Forests.  The Volunteer Rangers leading this gently paced walk will share their knowledge of the fascinating archaeology located in the woods including a Ring Barrow, a Cairn and a Megalithic tomb.

Meeting point: Slievethoul Forest entrance on McDonagh’s Lane at 10:50

Saturday 25th January Walk: Bohernabreena Upper Reservoir Loop

As of 08.01.20 this walk is fully booked

Description: This is a lovely walk suitable for all the family along part of the Dodder river, looping around the upper reservoir and returning to the car park. The DMP Volunteer Rangers leading this gently paced walk will share their knowledge of the history of the reservoir, the mythology associated with the Glenasmole Valley and the many features of interest along the route.

Meeting point: Bohernabreena car park at 09:45, please car pool where possible as parking is limited.

Sunday 26th January, Barnaslingan & Carrickgollogan & Rathmichael Woods Loops Hike

As of 16.01.20 this walk is fully booked

Description: This free guided hike will over its 8.5km length bring you through mixed woodland to the stunning Scalp view-point, Carrickgollogan’s summit with its amazing 360o views (on a clear day) and Rathmichael Wood’s rath. This is a moderate walk involving a number of short climbs (elevation gain 275m) on forest roads and trails, two short sections of County road and a gravel track leading to Carrickgollogan summit. 

Date: Sunday 26th  January at 11:00

Duration: 2.5 to 3 hours.

Degree of difficulty: Moderate. 

Bring:  walking boots, raingear, warm clothes, water and a snack.

Meeting point:  Barnaslingan car-park at 10:50 Directions

Public Transport: Dublin Bus Route 44 to Stop 4852 (from City) or Stop 4121 (from Enniskerry) plus short walk.
