Thursday 1st December, Ecologist Joanne Denyer will lead a walk in Ticknock to explore the world of mosses and liverworts

Description: This guided walk, led by ecologist Joanne Denyer, will introduce participants to the mosses and liverworts (bryophytes) found in Coillte’s Ticknock forest. Bryophytes were the first land plants, Ireland has over 680 different species, equating to more than 45% of Europe’s flora.

This walk is a wonderful opportunity to see Ticknock Wood through a different lens, you are guaranteed to come away seeing the bryophytes that are plain sight in Ticknock and in your own locality. We will also be launching a new bryophyte guide developed by Joanne.

This is a moderate walk on forest roads and trails and in the forest. 

Date: Thursday 1st December at 09:45.

Duration: 2.5 to 3 hours.

Distance: 4-5 km approximately

Degree of difficulty: Moderate 

Bring: walking boots, raingear, water and a snack.

Meeting point: Ticknock carpark at 09:45.
