Wednesday September 4th Bat Walk with NPWS at Carrickgollogan

This is a moderate guided walk on forest roads and trails at Carrickgollogan Forest.
This walk is open to children aged 12+.
Our bat walk and talk will be led by Seán Meehan & Katie Gordon from the National Parks and Wildlife Service with support from the DMP Volunteer Rangers. On this gently paced walk you will be introduced to the wonder of bats and their ecology. We'll also explore the issues that bats face in a changing landscape.
We will also have bat detectors which help us to identify the species around us and hear the calls and sounds they’re making.
Date: Wednesday, 4th of September, 20:00 departure
Meeting point: Carrickgollogan carpark at 19:45
Duration: 2.5-3 hours, approximately.
Degree of difficulty: Moderate.
Bring: Torch, walking boots, rain gear, warm layers, water, and snacks.

Join us for a DMP Volunteer Ranger led hike on Sunday, the 8th of September: Tibradden Forest - Cruagh -Glendoo - Knocknagun - Prince William's Seat - Return.
Description: This guided hike will start from Tibradden Forest Car Park, into Cruagh Wood, along the boardwalk to Cruagh Summit, onto Glendoo, Knocknagun and Prince William's Seat and return. The route surfaces include, footpaths, county road, gravel trails and forest floor. This is a moderate to strenuous hike. On a clear day the views along the route are breathtaking.

Duration: 4.5 - 5 hours, approximately.
Distance: 17km approximately, 480m of climb.
Degree of difficulty: Moderate to strenuous.
Bring: Walking boots, rain gear, warm layers, water, and lunch.
