April Events with the DMP Volunteer Rangers

 

Saturday April 26th, Aware Wellness Walk #1: Tallaght to Kiltipper Park

This is the first in a 4-part public transport-friendly walk series on the last Saturday of the month during April, May, June and July. The walks are designed to support individuals living with depression, anxiety and related mood disorders by providing an opportunity to connect with others and experience the therapeutic benefits of nature. Both time spent outdoors and physical activity have been shown to play a valuable role in mental health recovery and overall wellbeing.

This walk will be led by experienced DMP Volunteer Rangers and supported by Aware Volunteers.

 

Date: Saturday, the 26th of April at 10:30. 

Length: 5.5km approx. 

Duration: 1-1.5 hours approx.  

Degree of difficulty: Easy.  

Bring: Sturdy footwear, rain jacket, warm clothes, drink and snack.  

Meeting point: Rua Red South Dublin Arts Centre beside The Square in Tallaght at 10:30.

 

 

Public Transport: Tallaght is served by LUAS Red Line and Dublin Bus. See link to Transport for Ireland Journey Planner for route suggestions.

     

Note – no dogs allowed on this walk.

        

Please inform us of any health issues on the day and ensure you bring any necessary medication with you.  

 

In the event of an orange or red weather warning, this event will be cancelled. Other weather warnings will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Sunday April 27th, DMP Dog Friendly Hike at Tibradden

Join the DMP Volunteer Rangers for a moderate 9km dog hike with basic dog training tips along the way. This hike will commence from Tibradden Forest. From there, we’ll trace the path of the Dublin Mountains Way, leading us to the historical Tibradden Cairn. Our next stop will be Fairy Castle before making our way back to Tibradden. We will stop along the route for basic training tips.

The hike route surfaces include gravel trails and forest floor. On a clear day the views along the route are breathtaking.

 

Date: Sunday, 27th of April at 10:00AM

Duration: 3 hours, approximately. 

Distance: 9km approximately, 300m of climb.

Degree of difficulty: Moderate.

Bring: Sturdy waterproof footwear, rain gear, warm layers, food, snacks, water, poo bags.

Meeting point: Tibradden Forest Overflow Car Park at 09:45.

 

Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

 

Public Transport: No direct transport on Sunday's. See TFI’s Journey Planner.

    

Parking is limited so please carpool where possible.
